Length of Stay

Length of stay is based on behavioral health medical necessity criteria. When symptoms and behaviors can be treated in a non-structured treatment setting, functional impairment is improved, and motivation is demonstrated, the insurance payer will require a step down into outpatient services. The average length of stay for Intensive Outpatient 60 to 120 days and Level 3.1 services is 4-6 months. Through the course of care, patients are expected to begin exploring alternate housing options so that the patient can obtain off site housing while continuing in outpatient services.
